It is a beautiful 11 km coastline located in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture 959-3665. The Sasagawa Nagare that glows with charm each season deeply impresses visitors.

What is the Sasagawa Nagare?
Origin of the name Sasagawa Nagare

Sasagawa is a place name. The tidal current rising up and flowing between the rocks off the coast of Sasagawa is thought to be the origin of the name. The sea water is some of the most transparent sea water in Japan. The contrast between the white sand and green pine trees, and the shore, cliffs and caves shaped after a lapse of many years make us realize the greatness of nature. The Sasagawa Nagare seen from the sea looks exceptional. The Sasagawa Nagare excursion boat started operating in 1952 and has been sailing until the present day. Seagull feeding has become popular and is enjoyed by a wide range of generations.

Origin of the name Sasagawa Nagare

Plankton gathers in the ocean, seeking nutrient-rich water flowing from the mountains, keeping the sea beautiful. The fish that grew, eating the plankton from the harbor in the neighboring town, look splendid. We are always grateful for the blessings of nature.

The Sasagawa Nagare Steamboat sells sun dried and smoked products using marine products from the Sea of Japan. They are so delicious that our customers ask us why. The secret is in drying the locally caught fish with the sun and sea breeze. In our modern age when processing and drying by machine are the mainstream for producing dried fish, we work by hand to make our products with the help of the sun and sea breezes.

Many amino acids are refined into fish when they are exposed to the sunlight. The sea breeze from the ocean also makes dried fish tasty. We make dried fish by manually processing fresh local fish one by one and drying them with the sun and sea breeze after using our secret seasoning method.

Salmon filleted into three pieces is immersed in soy sauce and sweet sake and sun dried. The taste spreads in your mouth as you chew the salmon.

We smoke salmon, salmon milt, salmon backbone, medium-sized gizzard shad, stargazers, mackerel and Spanish mackerel with our own smoking method. We recommend comparing the tastes.

Each gurnard is first cleaned; then the fish is soaked in soy sauce, sweet sake and sake, and dried with the sun and sea breeze. A gurnard, also known as a redwing sea robin, is a white fish that has no unpleasant flavor.
